{"id":5537,"date":"2021-02-19T05:49:33","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T05:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globalindianstories.com\/?p=5537"},"modified":"2021-02-19T05:50:14","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T05:50:14","slug":"evening-shadows-to-screen-in-london-marking-lgbt-history-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalindianstories.org\/index.php\/2021\/02\/19\/evening-shadows-to-screen-in-london-marking-lgbt-history-month\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Evening Shadows\u2019 to screen in London\u00a0marking LGBTQ+ History Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>Sridhar Rangayan\u2019s gay drama kicks off series of films as part of London Indian Film Festival (LIFF)<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The UK and Europe\u2019s largest South Asian film festival, the London Indian Film Festival\u00a0 (LIFF) is kicking off its 2021 series of films and marking LGBT+ History Month with a screening of Sridhar Rangayan\u2019s feature film\u00a0<i>Evening Shadows<\/i>, a tender heart-warming story, set in a small town in Southern India, where a young man comes out to his mother and the upheaval it causes with the traditional family and society around it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The sensitively handled film, directed by award-winning Indian filmmaker and gay activist Sridhar Rangayan, underlines the challenges that gay men continue to face in India upon coming out to their family, and question the dominant patriarchal social mores. The film has won 24 international Awards and has become a success in the international film festival circuits with selections in 72 international film festivals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Sridhar Rangayan, director said, \u201cMyself and the team of\u00a0<i>Evening Shadows<\/i>\u00a0are thrilled to be screening at the prestigious London Indian Film Festival, and we thank them for according to our film the honour to kickstart their series.
